SAMPIT’S MUSEUM KAYU REVITALIZATION Development of the Preliminary Feasibility Study Report

Museum Kayu Sampit (Sampit's Wood Museum), as a reflection of modern humanity, can be present as more than just a monument that chronicles past achievements. Therefore, Museum Kayu, potentially positioned as the cultural face of Sampit City, needs a critical interpretation perspective to frame it as an essential marker of civilizational progress and the future look of Kotawaringin Timur Regency (Kotim) as a whole.

The results of the preliminary feasibility study of the Museum Kayu Sampit Revitalization initiative were followed up to the possible development (visioning) stage by examining the critical viewpoint of the natural wealth of the Kotim Regency in general, the City of Sampit in particular. As a result, the natural wealth of land and water is re-narrated to construct a new Sampit City civilization as a City of Forests and Rivers that is advanced, self-sufficient, and respectful of its natural environment.

The Museum Kayu Sampit restoration agenda, proposed as an integrated revitalization program, is planned to involve physical development and a series of activation activities to maintain its sustainable ecology. This recommendation was delivered to the Kotim Regent, Mr. Halikinoor, and the regency government officials on March 25, 2022, in Sampit City, facilitated by PT Rimba Makmur Utama (PT RMU), as the partner of the Kotim Regency government's Culture and Tourism Office.
