Museum Kayu Revitalization Program, Sampit City, East Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan

In August 2021, the SENADI Foundation was trusted as an implementing partner to conduct a feasibility study to revitalize the Museum Kayu (Wood Museum) located in Sampit City, Kotawaringin Timur (Kotim) Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. This appointment was made by PT Rimba Makmur Utama (RMU), the operator of the Katingan-Mentaya Project peatland restoration area located in Central Kalimantan, together with the Tourism Office of the Kotim Regency Government to initiate this effort.

As one of the city's landmarks, the Museum Kayu is seen by the Regency Governments – ​​in this case, the Tourism Office, as having great potential to become a locomotive and a concrete example of an education center regarding the culture and history of the city and its people. This is one of the critical factors in its regional tourism strategic plan, for sure.

On the other hand, PT RMU sees the significant strategic role of the Museum Kayu Sampit to realize one of its missions; "Develop and improve the economy and environmental awareness of the surrounding community area." In this case, the community and young people of Sampit City and East Kotawaringin Regency in general.

The feasibility study with output in the form of program recommendations related to revitalization will begin in September 2021. Lasting for approximately two months, the survey results are planned to be presented to the ranks of the Regency Government and related agencies at the end of December 2021.
